Legislation Proclaimed

On August 2, 2016, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia (CPA Nova Scotia) was officially established with the proclamation of the Chartered Professional Accountants Act and the Public Accountants Act by the Government of Nova Scotia.

With the proclamation of the Chartered Professional Accountants Act, all legacy accounting bodies cease to exist. Certified Management Accountants, Chartered Accountants and Certified General Accountants in Nova Scotia are now officially Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA), abiding by the same By-Laws, rules and regulations, professional development and membership responsibilities, as established by CPA Nova Scotia.

The CPA designation is Canada's pre-eminent accounting and business designation. With more than 4,400 members and students, CPA Nova Scotia joins more than 200,000 members across Canada in providing crucial financial expertise in every sector of the economy.

Professional development, PLI and other regulatory matters are now administered by CPA Nova Scotia.
