Nova Scotians United for Life (NSUL) is seeking a CPA to replace our CPA treasurer.

Founded in 1971 and based in Halifax, NSUL is Nova Scotia’s oldest Pro-Life organization.  NSUL through education, peacefully proclaims, promotes and provides active witness to the sanctity of and the respect for, all human life from conception to natural death.  Our primary service focus is Project Rachel, a post-abortion healing ministry.  NSUL is a non-political organization.

Treasurer Position Description

In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, the Treasurer’s role is to oversee the financial operations of NSUL.  The Treasurer is accountable to the Board of Directors.  Treasurer candidates must be aligned with all of our Pro-Life mission values and objectives.


  1. Supports the Executive Director in financial management of the organization.
  2. Review of monthly financial statements prepared by the Executive Director.Based on the existing reporting format, it’s anticipated minimal time is required for this review, according to the outgoing CPA Treasurer.
  3. If needed, availability to co-sign cheques (i.e., 2-4 every 4-6 weeks); two existing Board Members also have signing authority.
  4. Annual preparation work includes: the Annual Financial Report; Charities and Giving Statement, required by Canada Revenue Agency; and summary for the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stocks.It’s estimated by the former Treasurer that these activities will take only a few hours.
  5. Attending the Board of Director bi-monthly meetings (i.e., September, November, January, March and May) is optional; attendance at AGM in March is desirable.
