Financial Controller (Materials)

STELIA Aerospace North America Inc. (STELIA North America) is an advanced manufacturing facility which designs, develops and produces fibre reinforced composite products for global markets.  Our organization currently employs about 400 employees in our facilities in Lunenburg and Mill Cove, Nova Scotia as well as in Mirabel, Quebec and Seattle, Washington.


We currently have an opening for an accounting professional to join our Finance team as our Financial Controller (Materials) in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. This vacancy is a newly created position necessary to achieve the business objectives.  This position reports directly to the Head of Finance.


As our Financial Controller (Materials) you have a keen eye for detail to analyze our current supply chain business processes.  You will be focused on buy side activities including raw materials inventories, tooling, and capital expenditures.  You clearly understand financial controlling and will partner with the supply chain team to set and achieve financial targets.  With your professional demeanour and team focus, you will work with the team to execute plans to optimize financial performance.


Your key accountabilities are:

Execute financial governance by:

  • Reporting actual materials results for all programs (monitoring consumption of material, expenses and costs)

  • Produce and monitor the buy targets for all programs and central functions.

  • Produce the current year's financial buy forecasts for all programs

  • Produce program management tracking related to targets

  • Highlight opportunities and challenges related to process and cost

  • Track and control Capital Assets

  • Support for Research & Development

  • Support for internal and external audit


    Perform end-of-month tasks:

  • Variance analyses and corrective action plans

  • Provisions

  • Allowances


    The successful candidate possesses:

  • University degree or Community College diploma with a concentration in accounting.

  • Minimum three years working in the field of finance/accounting.

  • Working towards CPA degree is an asset.

  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and ERP systems.

  • Able to work as part of a cross functional team as well as independently.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks with high attentions to detail.

  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Power Point, Word.
