Laura Rees, CPA, CA

Laura is a Chartered Professional Accountant with a broad range of business experience. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, she completed her Bachelor of Commerce Co-op degree at Dalhousie University. After Dalhousie, she went on to complete her CPA, CA, designation while working for Bell Aliant.  At Bell, Laura worked in numerous business functions such as external financial reporting, enterprise risk management and internal reporting. After nearly three and a half years at Bell Aliant Laura accepted a role with Deloitte New Zealand. 

While working in New Zealand, Laura worked with many small to medium-sized businesses on post-earthquake development projects and business valuations. She was also part of a significant fraud investigation spanning several countries. The diverse experience Laura gained locally and internationally have contributed to her ability to see the big picture and the smaller nuances of a project.

Since her return to Nova Scotia in 2017, Laura is currently the Manager of Financial Compliance with Emera. Laura is excited to be part of CPA Nova Scotia’s Board of Directors and is eager to contribute to the designation that has provided her so many opportunities.
