John Curruthers, FCPA, FCA



John Carruthers is the Director, Client Development at Stonegate Private Counsel. He joined the profession upon graduating from Acadia University in 1979 and retired 37 years later from Grant Thornton LLP, where he spent 27 years as a Partner. John was instrumental in growing Grant Thornton’s Advisory Services practice, along with his CBV and CMC designations. He is now working at Stonegate Private Counsel as a member of the wealth management team, where he assists clients and their families with their financial affairs.

John is presently a Governor of Commissionaires Nova Scotia, as a member of the Executive and Finance Committees and a member of the Environmental Liaison Committee for Northern Pulp. Recently, John was appointed as a Life Governor of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in recognition of the number of challenging roles he carried out in a manner that maintained the respect of students, faculty, and staff. He has always been a dedicated community volunteer and has assisted many non-profit organizations throughout Nova Scotia.
