The Seniors’ College Association of Nova Scotia (SCANS)  is seeking an auditor to review their financial records and to submit a report and recommendations to the Seniors’ College before their Annual General Meeting in March 2023. The fiscal year ends on December 31. The audit should be undertaken sometime in February of 2023 and requires one - two days of time.  The auditor could be assisted by one of our members who has volunteered to participate in the auditing  process. SCANS uses QuickBooks software for its financial management and all documents are in electronic format.

The Seniors College is a registered non-profit society, and is run by volunteers (Board of Directors and Standing Committees) with the support of a  part-time office manager/bookkeeper. The mission of the society is to provide affordable learning opportunities of an academic nature to seniors in Nova Scotia  (age 50 years and older). Members pay an annual fee which entitles them to attend classes in all three terms in which courses are offered.  Courses are six weeks in length, and offered in fall, winter and spring. Classes are provided in five chapters: HRM, Truro, Chester, Mahone Bay and Liverpool. Members can take as many courses as they so choose and in any of the chapters.
