MARITIME CONSERVAOTRY OF THE PERFORMING ARTS SEEKS TREASURER

The Maritime Conservatory of the Performing Arts, one of Canada’s oldest not for profit institutions for training in Music and Dance, requires a chartered professional accountant to serve as volunteer Treasurer on its Board of Directors.  The current Treasurer has led significant improvements in accounting systems, reporting, and financial planning.  Day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable activities are managed by paid staff, and the organization has annual audit engagements completed.

We are looking for an individual with experience in financial modelling and budgeting as well as the capacity to clearly explain financial matters to stakeholders who may not have analytic or risk management expertise. Skills in supporting problem solving and sound decision making are essential.  Familiarity with Simply Accounting is important and knowledge of not for profit CRA and reporting rules would be an asset.
